My name is Arlen Lee. I am a freshman at the University of Alabama majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Civic Engagement and Leadership. While pursuing this major I am also a member of the Army ROTC program on campus to become an Army Officer when I graduate in a few years. All of my life I have never been a big fan of writing but i have always been good at it, which is a big part of the reason I am at where I am. Due to my writing abilities I have been awarded scholarships and gotten into programs that I would not have likely been able to get into otherwise. I think one of the best examples of my work was when I had to write an essay about myself and why I deserved a scholarship through the ROTC program. In this essay I had to explain who I was, who I wanted to be, and why I thought that I would be a strong leader in the United States Army. In this essay I discovered a lot about myself as a person and as a writer an this English course has helped to further that process of self-discovery.

This website is my electronic portfolio showing the progress in my work for this semester. I have showcased these essays as prime examples of some of my best work using research to back up my story. English 102 has taught me a lot about improving my writing and I hope that that is evident throughout my portfolio.
